چکیده
The specific activity and spatial distribution of 238U, 232Th 40K were determined in the surface soil from Lișava uranium mining sector. This sector belongs to Banat district, an historically important area Romania (an with closed mines a radioactive waste dump). Gamma-ray spectrometry using high-purity germanium (HPGe) detector was used measure naturally occurring radionuclides soil. average activities 197.21 Bq/kg for 16.21 543.21 40K. mineral contents selected rock samples (sandstones) examined scanning electron microscope (SEM), which revealed that brannerite, pitchblende coffinite most uranium-bearing minerals. means radiological hazard parameters calculated be 262.22 radium equivalent (Raeq), 123.72 nGy/h absorbed gamma dose rates (DR), 0.7 external index (Hex) 1.8 representative level (RLI). risk assessment indices associated investigated soils exceeded median values provided by UNSCEAR reflected geological settings influences anthropic such as practices tipping waste.

Natural radioactivity in ceramic tiles and associated radiological hazards
Background: The natural radioactivity levels in ceramic tiles produced in Turkey were determined and the related radiological hazards were assessed. Materials and Methods: The natural radioactivity levels (226Ra, 232Th and 40K) in the ceramic tiles were measured using high-purity germanium detector system (HPGe) and the related radiological hazards were assessed by radium equivalent activity (R...
متن کاملRadiological risk assessment of use of phosphate fertilizers in soil
ABSTRACT Background: The radiological impact of the use of phosphate fertilizers in soil is due to the internal irradiation of the lung by the alpha particles, short lived radon-thoron progeny and the external irradiation of the body by gamma rays emitted from radionuclides in situ. This paper describes the results of gamma spectrometric measurements of the concentration ...
متن کاملRadiological Hazard Resulting from Natural Radioactivity of Soil in East of Shazand Power Plant
Introduction: Nuclear radiation is potentially harmful to humans and soil contamination with radionuclides is the main source of human radiation exposure. These radionuclides can., enter to human body through the food chain. In this study, 34 soil samples were collected from between Arak city and Shazand Power Plant over 20 km length and analyzed. Materials and Methods: The specific activities ...
متن کاملNatural Radioactivity in Soil and Water from Likuyu Village in the Neighborhood of Mkuju Uranium Deposit
The discovery of high concentration uranium deposit at Mkuju, southern part of Tanzania, has brought concern about the levels of natural radioactivity at villages in the neighborhood of the deposit. This study determined the radioactivity levels of 30 soil samples and 20 water samples from Likuyu village which is 54 km east of the uranium deposit. The concentrations of the natural radionuclides...
متن کاملSoil radioactivity levels, radiological maps and risk assessment for the state of Kuwait.
An evaluation of the radioactivity levels associated with naturally occurring radioactive materials has been undertaken as part of a systematic study to provide a surface radiological map of the State of Kuwait. Soil samples from across Kuwait were collected, measured and analysed in the current work. These evaluations provided soil activity concentration levels for primordial radionuclides, sp...
